Martian Wine

2016 Viognier

Super aromatic and fuller bodied, Viognier was close to extinction in the 1960s, but has enjoyed a revival and is now planted in every major wine region in the world.  Despite that, it's most famous home is in the Northern Rhone Valley, specifically Condrieu, where it is now being made as an age worthy white wine with depth, acidity, and ripeness.

Apricots and steel are the traditional tasting notes, but it can often show a hint of honey.  Many Cote-Rotie growers will add a small percentage of Viognier to their syrah as it lends its soft floral aromas to the wine.

Martian Viognier is a mid-ripening grape and enjoys the large dirunal shift that our vineyard experiences which helps it retain its acid and freshness.

About this Martian Wine

Tasting Note

Grandmother's apricot tree grew the best fruit around, plucking a warm orange globe from the tree, biting into it and tasting the luscious, honeyed, and tangy goodness while juice drips down your chin.  There's nothing like being transported back to that time and feeling like you're 6 years old again.
